After crashing out of the Champions League in midweek, PSG will be looking to finish their Ligue 1 campaign on a positive note as they travel to Toulouse on Sunday. The Parisians have been far from their best lately, particularly at the back and with Toulouse also unconvincing defensively, goals could be expected here.
HIGHLIGHTED PLAYER (KYLIAN MBAPPÉ):
Kylian Mbappe is a French footballer who plays for Paris Saint-Germain as a forward. The French rising star began his youth career at AS Bondy and in 2013 he moved to AS Monaco. After making 12 appearances for Monaco B, Kylian Mbappe made his debut for the senior team in 2015. Mbappe quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer, with the teenager finding the net 15 times in 29 appearances in the Ligue 1 in the 2016/2017 season.
In 2017 he moved to fellow French club PSG on loan, with the option of making the deal permanent. Kylian Mbappe scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for les Parisiens in the 2017/2018 and it has to be noted that Unai Emery’s troops eventually won the national championship.
Speaking of his international career, Mbappe played an important role for France at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, with the pacey rising star scoring a brace in a thrilling 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 of the showpiece tournament. The PSG attacker was born in Paris on December 20, 1998.
HIGHLIGHTED TEAM (TOULOUSE):
Toulouse are a professional football club that compete in Ligue 1. Les Pitchouns are well known for their purple jerseys with white stripes and it has to be noted that they used to wear red and yellow jerseys in the past. Toulouse welcome their opponents at Stadium Municipal and the capacity of the team’s home ground is 33.150. Stadium Municipal was used as a venue for the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
In 1982 the club secured promotion to the Ligue 1 for the first time ever and you should bear in mind that the likes of Jacques Santini and Daniel Jeandupeux were part of the team. A win over Napoli in the round 1 of the 1986/1987 UEFA Cup is considered one of the club’s biggest success as football legend Diego Maradona played for the Italian team back then, attacker Daniel Jeandupeux scored the winner for Toulouse in the penalty shoot-out. Bordeaux are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals and the two teams face each other in Derby de la Garonne.
Players to watch: Mbappe to close out his Paris time with goals
Kylian Mbappe only has a few weeks left with PSG and will be keen to end his time on a positive note. The forward has 26 Ligue 1 goals this season and having also been on target in both meetings with Toulouse this season, could be backed to maintain his scoring run at 8/13 with JILIACE.
Toulouse have some attacking quality of their own, particularly with Thijs Dallinga, who has 13 Ligue 1 goals this season. The striker could be worth keeping an eye on at 12/5 with JILI ACE.
Probable line-ups
PSG have no new injury problems, with Presnel Kimpembe and Lucas Hernandez the only players still sidelined with injury. Rasmus Nicolaisen is suspended for Toulouse after picking up a red card last time out.
PSG: Donnarumma, Hakim, Beraldo, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Ruiz, Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, Dembele, Mbappe, Ramos.
Toulouse: Rested, Diarra, Keben, Costa, Diarra, Schmidt, Sierra, Casseres, Aboukhlal, Gboho, Dallinga.
Recent Meetings
- PSG was unbeaten in 24 of the past 25 head-to-head clashes against Toulouse.
- Three of the last four meetings between the two had goals from both ends.
- PSG won the past five clashes against Toulouse at this stadium and has scored 15 goals in the stretch.
PSG vs Toulouse Prediction
The away form of Toulouse looks impressive of late. They have won seven of the past 10 road trips across all competitions. Meanwhile, PSG has been unbeaten in 15 of their 16 league matches at home so far this season. Such a display definitely inclines us to go for the home win here. However, we don’t expect a one-sided affair, as all the above-mentioned stats suggest both teams will be involved in the match-up.
Thus, we like to start with PSG to win and both teams to score as the main pick here. Moving on, PSG has scored 10 goals in the past four league home outings. In that case, we expect PSG to pull off a 3-1 win here. Also, note that the Ligue 1 top scorer Kylian Mbappe has scored 5 goals in the last five league outings. He has also netted one in the reverse fixture against Toulouse. Thus, Mbappe to score anytime will be our final pick for this match.
